Why did you name it “Big Spring Artistry” ?
My front porch overlooks Big Spring Park here in Neosho, Missouri. The people around here call it the town jewel. It has a large clearwater spring that flows out of the park. The town was essentially built outwards from Big Spring Park.
I live on Spring Street and many of the names in this area where I live are called Big Spring this or that. There is Big Spring Art Gallery across the street. We have the Spring Street Bar and Grill and Indian Springs Brewery on the Square. There is Big Spring Auto down the street and others I can’t remember but you get the idea.
We are located on Osage ancestral land and this town was named by the Osage as “Neosho”. That translates to “clear cold water”. My daughter is Osage, so this place is where mine and my daughter’s life and art flows, and everything for us pretty much flows from this point… Big Spring Park.
I needed something all inclusive for the art part of the name as we do lampshades, jewelry, clothing, canvas paintings, hat feathers and more. I had to have a neutral description for the website. I came up with this part first “Artistry.” It all came together perfectly when my spouse said “Big Spring”? It just made sense and was even available as bigspringartistry.com (http://bigspringartistry.com/) on the Internet! It felt like it took forever to get to that point!
This is way overdue as we’ve been creating art for a moment, just waiting for the right time to start a business. I didn’t want to do it alone. Now I’m totally ready as my daughter just turned 16 in December and I turned 40. What better time in our lives? 💕 My daughter is the bees knees with art and she is a lot of my motivation. Also, my spouse is quite the muse and a wonderful caregiver for my and my daughter’s rare disease hereditary angioedema. That’s why I choose to not rent a store front and instead create specialty items with care and love from where we are most comfortable. A great support team makes this business successful and so do you! 🌈✨
Thanks bunches for reading and thanks for supporting us even if it’s just learning what we stand for which is inclusion AND love for all arts!
